Quotes and prices

How much will it cost?

It depends on the size of the tree, how easy it is to reach and what needs clearing. We give you a fixed price in writing after seeing the job, and it does not change unless you ask us to do more.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Site visits and written quotes are free for planned work. For emergencies we explain any visit charge on the phone before we set off.

How do I pay?

By card or bank transfer once the work is done. You get a clear invoice, and for larger jobs we can agree stage payments.

Safety and insurance

Are you insured?

Yes, with £10 million public liability cover. We are happy to send you a copy of the certificate before we start.

Are your climbers qualified?

Yes. Our climbers and chainsaw operators hold current industry certificates, and every job is planned with a ground crew.

Will you damage my garden?

We take care not to. We lay ground mats, lower branches on ropes and keep machinery to the access routes we agree with you.

The work

How long will the job take?

Most pruning and hedge jobs take a few hours to a day. Larger felling jobs can take a day or two. We give you an honest estimate when we quote.

Will you take the waste away?

Yes. Branches are chipped and removed, and logs are cut up. If you want to keep logs or woodchip, tell us and we will leave them where you like.

Can you work during nesting season?

We can, but we check for nesting birds first. If a nest is active, we wait or work around it, because it is the law and the right thing to do.

Rules and permissions

Do I need permission to cut or fell a tree?

Not always, but some trees have a protection order or sit in a conservation area. We check the council records and can handle the paperwork for you.

What if my neighbour has a tree over my garden?

You can usually trim branches back to the boundary, but the wood still belongs to your neighbour, and protected trees are different. Talk to them first, and we can advise.

Afterwards

When is the best time to prune?

Most trees are happiest pruned from late autumn to winter. Hedges are best cut in late summer or early autumn. We will tell you if yours is an exception.

Should I replace a tree I have lost?

Often, yes. We can suggest a species that suits your soil and space, and plant it for you or point you to a good nursery.
