Aldercombe is a family-run country house,
where every wedding, party and gathering is planned by hand,
never from a template, and always with the doors to the garden left open.
Four rooms, one house
Each room has its own mood. Use one, use all four, or let us suggest a plan for your day.

The Great Hall
Tall windows, carved ceilings and a sprung floor that carries a first dance beautifully. Candlelit in winter, flooded with light in June.

The Orangery
A glass-roofed room of patterned tiles and hanging lamps. Set one long table or several round, and watch the evening light move across the walls.

The Hayloft
A raftered barn with a polished floor, a bar at one end and room to dance. Dim the lights, turn up the music and the night takes care of itself.

The Walled Garden
Clipped hedges, gravel paths and an old brick wall. Say your vows under the arch, then take drinks on the lawn while the photographer does the rounds.
Every kind of gathering
Weddings are our heart, but the house is just as happy hosting a birthday, a board dinner or a film crew.
Hen weekends, vow renewals, charity balls. If it is a gathering, we can probably host it.
From first fizz to last dance

Arrivals and fizz
Guests drift in through the front doors to a glass in hand and a string trio on the lawn.
The ceremony
Vows in the Great Hall or under the arch in the Walled Garden, whichever the weather allows.
Drinks and photographs
Canapés on the lawn while the photographer makes the most of the golden hour.
The wedding breakfast
Long tables in the Orangery, a seasonal menu from our kitchen and a speech or two.
First dance
Everyone moves to the Hayloft for the cake, the first dance and the band.
Last song, then bed
Late bar until one. Your guests stagger upstairs, and breakfast is waiting in the morning.
Moments from the house
Candles, long tables, ceilings worth looking up at. A few frames from recent seasons.
Kind words, after the confetti
We had three hundred messages afterwards asking where we found the place. The team made it feel like our own home, only with better lighting.
Our team usually dreads away days. This time nobody wanted to leave.
Mum cried happy tears in the garden. Thank you for the perfect afternoon.

Good questions, quick answers
If yours is not here, ask us. We reply within one working day.
Do we have exclusive use of the house?
Yes. Only one booking is ever held at a time, so the house, courtyard and grounds are entirely yours from arrival until departure.
How many guests can you host?
Up to 140 for a seated dinner, 180 in the evening and 32 overnight. Smaller parties are very welcome too.
Can we bring our own caterer or drinks?
Our kitchen cooks everything on the day, and we are happy to build the menu around you. Wine can be brought in for a small corkage fee.
When should we book?
Saturdays in summer are usually taken eighteen months ahead, but midweek and winter dates are often available at shorter notice.
Is there a deposit?
A 25 percent deposit secures your date, and the balance is paid in two stages. We put the full schedule in writing.
Can we visit before we book?
Of course. Viewings are free and take about an hour, with a glass of something and no pressure.
