Roofs that outlast the weather.
New roofs, repairs, slate restoration and lead work from a family team who climb every roof themselves. Fixed price, written guarantee.

Every part of the roof.
From a single slipped tile to a complete re-roof, one family team looks after the whole thing.
Five layers between you and the rain.
A roof is a system, not just tiles. Hover a layer to see what it does, and why we never skip one.

Treated timber laths that hold every tile at the right spacing.
- 3
Breathable membrane
A second line of defence that sheds wind-driven rain and lets the roof breathe.
- 4
Rafters and insulation
The structure, and the layer that keeps the heat in.
- 5
Lead and flashings
The details around chimneys and valleys, where most leaks begin.
Finished, and still dry.

Said on the doorstep.
“They were on the roof by lunchtime, the leak was gone by teatime and the road was swept before they left.”
“A fixed price, a clear programme and a roof that looks like it was always meant to be there. Superb.”
“Three patches and three failures. One proper job from Aldergate and we have not thought about it since.”

Roofers, not salesmen.
Aldergate began in 1994 with one van and two ladders. Today there are fourteen of us, and the owner still climbs up to check every roof before we send a price.
- Trained roofers and our own apprentices
- Fully insured, £5m public liability
- Written guarantee on every job
- Every roof checked by the owner
Straight answers.
Cost, timing and guarantees. If yours is not here, just ask.
How much does a new roof cost?
It depends on size, pitch and materials. As a guide, a typical semi-detached house in concrete tile is from £7,500, and natural slate from £11,000. You get a fixed written price after a free survey.
Is the survey really free?
Yes. We climb up (or use a drone), photograph everything and send a clear written report, whether or not you go ahead.
How long will it take?
Most repairs take a day. A full re-roof on a typical house takes four to ten working days, weather allowing.
Will you cover my belongings?
We protect the garden, the drive and the loft, and sheet the roof every night so it is always watertight.
What guarantee do you give?
Twenty-five years on new roofs and ten years on repairs, in writing and insured-backed.
Can you help with an insurance claim?
Yes. We provide dated photographs and a clear report for your insurer after storm damage.
